Super Visa

Canada Super Visa for Parents & Grandparents

Canada Super Visa

Canada’s immigration system prioritizes family reunification, and the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is designed to support this. Unlike a regular visitor visa, the Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to make multiple entries and stay for up to 2 years at a time.

To qualify, applicants must meet medical and admissibility requirements, demonstrate that their sponsor meets income thresholds, and secure valid private health insurance.

To be Eligible:

  • To sponsor a parent or grandparent under the Super Visa program, the Canadian sponsor must be at least 18 years old and must sign an undertaking to provide financial support and ensure the sponsored individual does not rely on social assistance for any reason other than disability.
  • The sponsor must meet the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) based on their family size and the number of individuals being sponsored. Household income can be combined—including that of a spouse or other earning family members—to meet this requirement. All contributing members must provide their most recent Canadian tax return (Notice of Assessment) to confirm that their total Line 150 income meets or exceeds the required threshold.
  • Applicants must also have valid Canadian health insurance coverage of at least $100,000 for a minimum of one year and must undergo a medical examination.
  • Super Visa Refusals: Even if all requirements are met, your Super Visa application could still be refused. If this happens, and you believe you’ve met all eligibility conditions, we can assist. Contact us for expert guidance on Super Visa applications and refusals.
